Hong Kong

At the end of the Second World War the British resumed control of the colony of Hong Kong and for many years its citizens played an active role in many aspects of the Commonwealth including sport.

Hong Kong sent a team to the British Empire & Commonwealth Games for the first time in 1954 and sent its last team to the Commonwealth Games in Victoria in 1994, prior to the transfer of sovereignty from the United Kingdom to China, which is not member of the Commonwealth, on 1 July 1997.
