Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) joined the Commonwealth in 1980 but had an established National Olympic Committee dating back to 1934.

Zimbabwe has taken part in 12 Commonwealth Games since 1934 and won 44 medals in sports including: athletics; lawn bowls; diving; swimming; boxing and wrestling.

They last competed in a Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002.

Following the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Abuja, Nigeria in December 2003 Zimbabwe withdrew from the Commonwealth.
