Glasgow to host Development Conference
Tuesday, 16 March 2010
Sports practitioners from across the UK and Commonwealth will come together during the third Commonwealth Sports Development Conference, taking place at Glasgow’s Mitchell Library between June 3-4, 2010.
The event will bring together practitioners, policy makers and a variety of funders and investors involved in sports development and sport-for-development. The conference will provide a forum to share ideas, network and hear about innovative programmes from across the Commonwealth.
Entitled Achieving Sustainable Development – Building Capacity in Communities, Clubs and NGOs, the programme features a strong international flavour, with presentations from Magic Bus (India), Mathare Youth Sports Association (Kenya), the Homeless World Cup and Women Win. Unusually for such a conference, a variety of funders will outline their investment strategies, including Comic Relief, the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympics Committee and Confederation and LGT Venture Philanthropy.
Commonwealth Games Associations worldwide will attend the conference – one of the last times they will meet ahead of the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games - providing a superb opportunity for discussions on international issues and programmes.
