Commonwealth records fall

After four days of competition in Delhi, 27 Commonwealth Games records have been broken and one World mark established.

Ten new records were set in the pool at the SP Mukherjee Aquatic Complex with South African Chad Guy Dertrand  Le Clos setting records in the 200 metres Butterfly and 400 Individual Medley. In the 50m Freestyle S9 Final Matthew Cowdrey of  Australia set a world record clocking  25.33 seconds.

Indians dominated the  nine new records set at the CRPF Campus at Khadarpur Gurgaon. Anisa Sayed winning the pairs and individual title and setting new records  in the 25m Pistol Finals , local Gagan Narang likewise in the men’s event and  Gurpreet Singh made his mark twice in the air pistol events.

New Commonwealth Games records were also set in three disciplines in cycling and weightlifting and two on the field at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium  in the athletics.
