Tuesday, 12 October 2010
CGF President Michael Fennell has advised that Nigerian runner, Samuel Okon, has tested positive for the substance Methylhexaneamine, a prohibited stimulant under category S6 of the WADA list of prohibited substances and methods.
Mr Okon was tested after finishing sixth in the final of the Men’s 110 metres hurdles at the Delhi Commonwealth Games in October.
He has been provisionally suspended from the results of his event.
Mr Okon has initially advised the CGF that he has waived his right to test his B Sample, but this is yet to be formally confirmed.
In accordance with the CGF Anti-Doping Standard (ADS) for the XIX Commonwealth Games, Mr Okon will attend a Provisional Hearing before the CGF Federation Court later today (October 12).
The Federation Court is chaired by CGF President, Hon. Michael Fennell OJ, CD, and consists of five other senior CGF office bearers: Vice Presidents HRH Prince Imran (Malaysia) and Bruce Robertson CM, CA (Canada), Hon. Secretary Louise Martin CBE (Scotland), Honorary Legal Advisor Sharad Rao (Kenya) and Honorary Treasurer Austin Sealy SCM (Barbados).
A member of the WADA independent observer team will also be in attendance.
